When we allow ourselves to play and experiment, something powerful begins to stir. We step out of control and into intuition—and that’s where the real magic happens. That’s where art becomes alive and honest. This new series was born from time spent in the Irish landscape. Walking through the hills, fields, and bog roads, I found myself constantly drawn to the fleeting beauty in nature, patches of wildflowers, shifting skies, the way light dances across the land.
These moments didn’t just inspire me—they grounded me. They reminded me to stop overthinking and let the landscape speak through colour, movement, and mark making. Rather than trying to capture what I saw exactly, I focused on how it felt to be there. I held onto that energy and allowed it to guide each brushstroke.
Letting go wasn’t easy—my earlier work relied heavily on structure and detail, but giving myself permission to explore has changed everything. This new way of painting feels bold, freeing, and full of life. I’ve built these pieces up in layers, using vibrant colour palettes, energetic marks, and collage elements. I sand back through the surface at times, revealing textures and traces of what came before, echoes of the landscape’s own history.
Each painting in this series has its own rhythm and personality, but they’re all deeply connected by a shared sense of place and the joy of discovering new paths. My hope is that these works offer a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the land, with memory, and with the simple wonder of being present in nature.
