I can honestly say the favourite part of my new dance studio is the amazing mural that fran painted. Her mural has become like a new brand for my dance school. I commissioned Fran to do a large painting of a waterscape this year. Fran was great to deal with, liaising on the piece design & giving me updates regularly on progress. Her art is very beautiful & I will definitely be getting another painting done at some stage!!

I first came across Fran's work through my job in The Echo Newspaper in Tallaght, as Fran is a native Tallaght girl herself we were looking to do an editorial piece on her and the amazing work she was creating. I instantly fell in love with her work, I love the serenity of the water paintings and especially the ones with the stones and pebbles. I met my partner Michael nearly 7 years ago, 2014, he is from Kilcar, Co. Donegal and the 2nd youngest of 12 children. We both have a huge love for our families, they mean so much to us and I loved visiting (and still do) Michael's family in Kilcar. His Mother Teresa was originally from the townland of Port, situated on the edge of the world with the most beautiful views out to sea. The small beach at Port is made up entirely of stones and famously these almost perfectly round white and grey ones. I instantly thought of approaching Fran to commission a piece for Michael, a painting that would reflect the beauty of Port and also be a wonderful subtle memory of his amazing Mother. I surprised Michael with this commissioned painting of our collection of Port stones last Christmas, 2020, and he was blown away. We now have a window to Port in our living room, a window to a part of Michael's life that means so much to us both. The reality of the painting is surreal, we feel like we could reach in and get our hands wet and pick up one of our beautiful stones. Thank you Fran for capturing and creating exactly what I had dreamed of.

For years everywhere I travelled, I collected stones and shells as a way of holding the memory of that experience. I loved the colours, textures and shapes. I stored them in glass jars around my house. I never considered myself someone who could commission an original piece of art - that was for “arty rich” types ! Then I saw Fran’s sea and pebble paintings - another stone worshipper ! I was as drawn to Fran’s paintings because of the colours, the texture and themes. After a long time dreaming of having Fran work her magic on some of my stones - I took the plunge ! Fran immediately put me at ease - I was now going to be someone with an original painting 😊 Imagine ! Fran poured over my stones with me and I told her the story behind each one. She helped me shortlist a varied selection. We worked collectively through a range of compositions and sizes - she never made me feel too picky ( even though I was !). Once we agreed the composition, Fran kept me updated with regular sneak previews of small sections of the piece - just enough to see it develop while maintaining a real sense of anticipation for the big reveal once completed ! And when that came my whole family was there, including my son who had picked some of the stones in the painting. We were all blown away and immediately drawn into the painting - The size, vibrant colours and textures draw you into the painting. It is pride of place in our living room now. And I can’t help but smile when I open the door every day !! The icing on the cake is the painting name - Dreams Come True. From one stone worshipper to another - thank you !! Xx
