My colourful abstract landscapes are rooted in time spent walking and observing the land around me. These walks are a quiet ritual—an opportunity to slow down, to notice the shifting light, tangled hedgerows, wide skies, and fleeting colour that often goes unseen. I make quick sketches and take photographs along the way, gathering fragments of a moment, a place, or a feeling.

Back in the studio, I don’t aim to recreate these scenes literally. Instead, they become a kind of shorthand—a visual memory I respond to through mark-making, layering, and colour. What begins as observation transforms into something more intuitive. I let the rhythm of the landscape guide me, allowing emotion and memory to lead the way.

These paintings are not maps or mirrors of the land—they are reflections. They hold onto the essence of a place without being confined by its detail. Through bold colour, texture, and movement, I aim to capture the energy and atmosphere of the landscape as I feel it, rather than as I see it.
