This piece is painted on a deep-edge canvas with a smooth, fine weave, which let me create subtle texture exactly where I wanted. It was inspired by a recent trip to Spain, where I became captivated by the way light plays on the surface of the water. I wanted to capture that magical effect of sun rays streaming down, a view that’s only possible from beneath the surface.

I used a mix of Golden Open acrylics, pencil, water-soluble pastels, and ink blocks to bring this vision to life. At first glance, it may look simple, but up close, you’ll find layers of fine detail that reveal themselves. It’s the kind of piece that invites you to take a closer look to appreciate all the subtle textures woven into it.
